The Autumn Bank Holiday weekend saw the 10th Essex join forces with the Queens Own Royal West Kents for the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
For five days the two groups manned the replica trench system and played host to thousands of delighted, and often moved, visitors as the sun scorched the site. In addition to one of the largest recreated trench systems in the UK, the show hosts one of the largest collections of Great War vehicles from our own 1915 ambulance through to unique vehicles such as the mighty Holt tractor used for towing heavy artillery.
With period rations cooked on site to medical demonstrations at the Regimental Aid Post and a range of weaponry and artifacts on display, the Great Dorset Steam Fair has become a major annual event in the Centenary Commemorations of the Great War.
