Cressing Temple Living History Fair
We attended the Cressing Temple Barns Living History Event over the weekend of the 8th and 9th April 2018. Only a small number of the 10th Essex were there but we had a load of equipment on display for the public to look at.. Once again there was a lot of interest from the public and our knowledge was put to the test by some of the question that were asked.
We performed a small ceremony for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Arras and even Rifleman Harris from TV’s Sharpe came by to pay his respects!
It was topped off by a fly past by a Royal Aircraft Factory SE5A which together with the Camel was instrumental in regaining allied air superiority in mid-1917 and maintaining it for the rest of the war, ensuring there was no repetition of “Bloody April” 1917 when losses in the Royal Flying Corps were much heavier than in the Luftstreitkräfte.
All in all a great weekend with much laughter.
The B&W group photo was shot with an original Kodak Folding Automatic Brownie No 2 by Mike South.
