On Saturday 29th June 2019, the 10th Essex Living History Group attended the Armed Forces Day at Colchester by the 16 Air Assault Brigade and Colchester Garrison.
The event opened to the public at 11am and from the word go we were busy. We had on display various items ranging from the development of the hand grenade through the machine guns and rifles.
Lots of questions were asked and we certainly did our best to answer them. We also met some interesting people, for example, I spent some time talking WW1 buses with Dr WIlliam D Ward, the foremost authority on these and the modern day problems they have keeping them running.
Come 4pm when the event closed, we had been on our feet most of the day in blistering heat, some of us never stopped talking but ir was all worth it.
Many thanks to the 16 Air Assault and Colchester Garrison for inviting us and to you the public for making the day enjoyable. We look forward to seeing some of you at our other events or even next year.
If you have any photos then please send them to us and we will post them in the Armed Forces Day Gallery.
